AppStream Partners with UGS to Streamline the Deployment and Management of UGS Product Lifecycle Management Applications

AppStream Improves Software Update Process, Provides On-Demand Application Access Throughout the Extended Enterprise

Palo Alto, Calif. June 9, 2004 — AppStream, Inc., a leading provider of on demand application management solutions, today announced a partnership with UGS , a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services. Under the terms of the agreement, AppStream will become a Partner under the UGS Partner Program and the two companies will cooperate on marketing AppStream's solutions to help customers simplify and improve the deployment and management of UGS ' sophisticated PLM applications such as NX, Teamcenter¨ and Solid Edge®.

AppStream's technology solves the challenges most large enterprises encounter when they attempt to deploy and update software using electronic software distribution (ESD) solutions. The cost and complexities associated with these solutions are significant and often outweigh the organization's ability to update and deploy new versions of an application in a timely manner. AppStream's unique solution transforms traditionally deployed applications into services that can be accessed by users in an on-demand fashion while being managed and controlled centrally.

Unlike traditional ESD solutions which push applications out to an entire base of desktops, AppStream's technology delivers applications in real-time to individual desktops in an on-demand fashion, as requested by the user, while automatically synchronizing the client with the back-end server. For the enterprise, this translates into massive cost reductions and dramatically improved management and deployment capabilities. With AppStream, users both within the enterprise and throughout the supply chain, have immediate access to the latest version of an application every time they launch it because it is automatically streamed to the desktop the moment it is requested.

"UGS is always looking for ways to help our customers enhance their productivity," said Chris Brosz, vice president of Technical Operations for UGS. "AppStream simplifies and expedites the deployment and updating of software and gives our customers the assurance that every user in the organization is accessing the latest version of our applications."

AppStream not only addresses management issues within an enterprise but also provides a centralized way for business partners to access applications in real-time. AppStream can also play a key role in facilitating the migration from UNIX to Windows-based desktops.

"UGS is one of the world's leading software companies with an extensive base of customers in a wide variety of industries," said Uri Raz, founder and CEO of AppStream. "This agreement is a validation of AppStream technology and provides us with a wealth of opportunities to help UGS customers optimize the value of mission critical applications by streamlining the deployment and management process and thereby achieve competitive excellence."
